How Do I Apply For A Fast-Tracked Tech Talent / Global Talent Visa?

The Global Talent visa is an Australian immigration category designed specifically for ambitious and talented individuals seeking to work in Australia. To be considered for a Global Talent visa, applicants must seek official approval from one of the six supporting entities established by the Australian Office. This programme is part of the Department of Home Affairs' “Global Talent” initiative to support innovation in Australia. It also includes the renamed “Global Talent Employer Sponsored” (GTES) scheme.

What is a Global Talent visa?

Individuals with an internationally recognised record of extraordinary and outstanding achievement in a profession, sport, or academics and research are eligible for the Global Talent visa. The professional or academic and research parts of this visa are used in the Global Talent independent program. The applicant must also still be well-known in the area and be a valuable Australian community member. This shows that they would have no problem finding work in the area and being nominated by an Australian individual or organisation with a national reputation.

How to apply for a Global Talent visa?

There are two stages to this process. First, you must apply for approval from one of the permitted endorsing bodies. The endorsing bodies' criteria determine this. Use the Global Talent contact form to submit an expression of interest (EOI). Second, if you have been granted an endorsement, you will need to apply for your visa. The Australian Department of Home Affairs completes this stage, which only considers immigration issues. This application allows you to include qualified dependents.

Apply technology endorsement for exceptional talent.

The visa applicant must demonstrate that they have been recognised as a leading talent in their field. One field the Australian government is currently very interested in is digital technology (DigiTech).

Evidence two of the following:

  • As a founder, senior executive, or employee working in a new digital technical field, the visa application must have demonstrated a track record of innovation.
  • The candidate must demonstrate that work done outside of their occupation has contributed to the advancement of that specific field.
  • The applicant must have made significant contributions to the sector in commercial, technological, or entrepreneurial endeavours.
  • The visa applicant should have demonstrated any remarkable talent in the discipline by academic contributions, published research, or expert endorsement.

Apply for a technology endorsement if you have a lot of potential.

The visa application must show that they have been recognised as having the potential to be a prominent talent in the field of digital technology.

Demonstrate at least two of the following:

  • As a founder of a product-led digital technology firm or as an employee working on a new digital tech field or a new digital technical concept, the applicant should provide at least two examples of innovation.
  • The applicant should show proof of acknowledgment for work that is not related to their field but helps to its growth.
  • As a founder or employee of a product-led digital technology organisation, the applicant must have made significant technical, commercial, or entrepreneurial contributions to the sector.
  • The applicant must demonstrate at least two examples of remarkable aptitude in the field by academic contributions or research endorsed by an industry expert.

Bottom line

Given the uncertainty surrounding immigration in other nations, the Global talent independent programme is a beneficial endeavour to attract some of the best and brightest talents worldwide.
